and the Terms and Policies,
Both Juno Temple and Michael Angarano are constantly growing as actors and The Brass Teapot is a great example of their ever-improving talents. I will recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Get a look at all of the films coming to theaters in March and April,... Film Friday: This Week's Movie News and New Trailers. Given its magical mediocrity, The Brass Teapot could have brewed its lukewarm water of wit and whimsy much hotter than it was in surrealist execution. From my review title, I mean I find the teapot itself and the film as a whole quite beautiful. The screenplay falters, introducing ridiculous villains and featuring thorough lapses in logic in a blur of strained drama. Oh, and i did like the soundtrack/score. Juno Temple and Michael Angarano played the roles of Alice and John very great and moreover, the full cast was great!! My definition of "enthusiastically quirky" will likely be different than yours, as mine concerns a premise that needed to take a considerable amount of time to develop and an even larger amount of work in order to sustain feature-length. Juno and Michael are amazing actors and were cast perfectly. Alice at least takes the opportunity of the confusion to steal a teapot from a convenient antiques store.
Despite the inherent perversity of the concept, Mosley succeeds in maintaining a certain sweetness throughout. But Mosely did a great job of mixing the harsh pain with brilliant comedy here. I wanted to write this, because the current reviews, i felt, were too positive. But, Alice soons finds another way to make the teapot give up the cash.
But if you're home on a Sunday afternoon and have nothing to do, this is definitely something to watch, also not a bad idea for a first date. Soon she discovers that the teapot is magic and makes money whenever they hurt themselves. The whole time I was thinking what I could do with it rather than focusing on the narrative of the film. Still, a lot of the humor works and overall the morality tale is effectively told. A lighthearted approach to a rich premise..and its funny.
|, April 5, 2013 |, December 28, 2014 and the Terms and Policies, The couple is visited by Dr. Ling (Stephen Park) that tells that they should give up of the teapot; otherwise they will be destroyed by the evil power. I have recently watched The Brass Teapot and I loved the film from the first second, it is a very funny and interesting movie but it also has a message behind the whole story! Coming Soon. A surprising fun film with a strange premise. There's not much depth to Mosley's debut, which is based on a short story by Tim Macy.
Continuing a run of tarty-yet-complicated parts, Temple has the trickier job of the two leads, remaining likable even as her appetite runs amok, though things stop far short of the genocidal owners who’ve come before (a measure of restraint that would have served Richard Kelly well on his similarly themed “The Box”). To avoid spoilers, I will review the film as it involves its setup, which is masterfully executed. After first seeing her in the amazing Greg Araki film Kaboom, I have come to the conclusion that she is wonderful in everything she is in, and everything she is in is wonderful. Juno's character, Alice, was taken under the curse of the teapot and was willing to do anything for the money. It's funny and manages to take on a deep premise with a lighthearted comedic approach. | Rotten (21). The movie is well written, the acting is very decent, but for me, it just didn't do it. The Brass Teapot provided a moral and I definitely recommend you watch this film! Whilst the Brass Teapot starts off promising, it then slumps into a typical melodramatic snore fest that you may find in a Disney kids film. ... it is apparent that Ramaa Mosley has a voice, and that The Brass Teapot is a focused, controlled piece of storytelling that displays real control.
All rights reserved. Wish-fulfillment black comedy engages through its winsome (if violent) premise and highly attractive leads, but shows some strain towards the end. Guessing the secret, she and John start to mildly beat, pinch, and stumble themselves until they have quite a large fortune. A bizarre, unique comedy about a down-on-their-luck couple who discover a stolen brass teapot has magical powers: whenever one of them is hurt, the teapot gives them cash. Coming Soon. Worse, It's theming is schizophrenic wavering between comedy and drama weakening its overall tone, and I couldn't stand the dumb repetition of the characters antics. How far would a person go to earn easy money?
A bit of a risqué magic teapot film but has its clever and mirthful moments. To the people who are saying this wasn't good and had bad acting/directing and a stupid story line, you need to get yourself checked out. Personally, I always look for a movie that has a little bit of everything- comedy, romance, suspense, mystery, etc. Soon she discovers that the teapot is magic and makes money whenever they hurt themselves. if you have that much money, and a magic teapot, put some investment on security. This is the role she needed the most after all her previous roles were pretty much serious. their stupidity makes me too frustrated to watch.
It was a terrific motion picture in terms of tone, character development, and setting, but also, took on the challenge of humanizing a rather genial character doing the truly despicable. But eventually they must decide how far they're willing to take things. The only original thing about the movie is the teapot, but again, the title says it all. ... it is apparent that Ramaa Mosley has a voice, and that The Brass Teapot is a focused, controlled piece of storytelling that displays real control. Great humorous scenes as well.
However, the ambitious Alice aims a top position and cannot find a job. NOT because this is a bad movie, but just because it's an indie movie, shot on a low budget, doesn't make it a good movie. What made it "enthusiastically quirky" was just the overall way it was conducted, with characters with enigma and personality, and a storyline that you wouldn't believe would be interesting after fifty minutes. Alice (Juno Temple) and John Macy (Michael Angarano) is a young couple that is facing economical difficulties. This is one of the most original movies I have ever seen, very good movie for any time of the day, Excellent comedy, truly original film, not 'just another movie'. Even more impressively, she makes her low-budget enterprise look as slick as most midrange studio comedies, demonstrating herself a director with both imagination and technical ingenuity. A magical antique transforms a couple (Juno Temple, Michael Angarano) from hapless losers into instant winners. It has a couple of laughs, partial nudity, a lot of intimate moments, and you don't really have to pay attention. |, November 17, 2014 Why not?
Seriously, how many times do the couple get robbed or have people just swoop into their house? We won’t be able to verify your ticket today, but it’s great to know for the future.
But, Alice loves John and visa versa and they enjoy each other's company despite scrambling to pay the rent.
The other actors cast in the movie were great as well. I truly enjoyed this movie. Since there is an unlimited source of income, Alice's imagination is really the only limit to how abusive she and John can be. their stupidity makes me too frustrated to watch. To the people who are saying this wasn't good and had bad acting/directing and a stupid story line, you need to get yourself checked out. It is all over the map, and the main theme being this young married couple who are trying to make it in the business world with little success to date stumble upon a magic brass teapot that spews out hordes of fresh dollar bills when the couple exerts some form of pain upon themselves. Starts off a bit slow, but picks up well. During a country drive, Alice enters a rundown antique store and steals the ancient device from a knowing old Jewish woman.
Started out alright, but then the steam went out of the kettle... A floppy storyline but with some very good performances.
|, April 4, 2013 Having Michael's character, John, there to support her and pull her out of it was refreshing. The payouts decrease as they go, however, and a fair amount of the plot concerns the couple’s increasingly extreme trial-and-error tests as they try to keep the money flowing. I'm left wondering: Doesn't a teapot have better things to do than force its demonic will on others, including an innocent, naive couple? Alice sees a brass teapot and steals it. "Brass Teapot" directed and cowritten by Ramaa Mosley has potential to be a good or even a great movie, but stoops and patronizes by fabricating scene after scene and conjuring pure idiots for it's main characters in order to manufacture its plot.
I prefer coffee. This is one of the most original movies I have ever seen, very good movie for any time of the day, Excellent comedy, truly original film, not 'just another movie'. The Brass Teapot, while it has its problems, is an entertaining film with a unique take on the corrupting influence of money. Home; About Me; Action. Alice sees a brass teapot and steals it. Lastly, it is also a definitely must watch movie that anyone who has this ''vanity'' about money and being rich would love the theme and as the catch-phrase of the film says: ''Pain Pays''!
After which they buy a big house and expensive car just to impress on their stupid (not even friends) former classmates in school. The episode isn’t quite so straightforward in that Alice does her shoplifting after surviving a near-death car accident (evidently rigged to satisfy the teapot’s thirst for carnage), but the pic’s tone is tongue-in-cheek enough that plausibility questions don’t slow things down. The percentage of Approved Tomatometer Critics who have given this movie a positive review. The writing failed this movie.
This was an awesome movie. I prefer coffee. Sidney Poitier’s 7 Most Memorable Performances, All Harry Potter Movies Ranked Worst to Best by Tomatometer.
